Course Information:
Part 1 is an Early Childhood language or literacy course offered online over nine weeks with instructor support. This course follows a set schedule, so all assignments must be completed and submitted by the posted deadlines to count toward your final grade. Once you’re enrolled, please check your course materials for specific dates and details. The only course available in Spanish is Desarrollo del Lenguaje en Niños Preescolares.
Part 2 is made up of asynchronous online modules that you will complete over nine weeks. If you still need to take Part 1, you’ll be enrolled in both courses at the same time and will work on them together. Part 2 is only offered in English and, like the other parts, has specific deadlines for completing and submitting work. Be sure to review your course materials for exact dates and requirements once you’re enrolled.
Part 3 is a five-week online practicum that gives you the opportunity to apply what you learned in Parts 1 and 2 by creating and implementing classroom strategies. You’ll receive instructor feedback as you put your strategies into practice. This course is only offered in English and follows a set schedule, so all work must be submitted by the posted deadlines. Please refer to your course materials for the exact dates and expectations once you’re enrolled.
Important Participation Notice:
All Emergent Literacy Micro-Credential courses include administrative drop policies for inactivity. Once enrolled, please log in to each course right away to review the instructions, announcements, and requirements carefully. Drop criteria vary between Parts 1, 2, and 3, so it’s important to understand what’s expected in each course. Staying active and engaged throughout the term is essential to remain enrolled and successfully complete the program.
Due to anticipated course restructuring for the 2026–2027 school year, learners enrolled in the Emergent Literacy Micro-Credential during the Spring 2026 term must complete and earn mastery in all three parts by the end of that term, 5/26/2026.
Learners who do not achieve mastery in all three parts by the end of Spring 2026 may be required to restart the course from the beginning if they choose to re-enroll in Fall 2026 or later.
