    Enrollment Application
  • Due to anticipated course restructuring for the 2026–2027 school year, learners enrolled in the Emergent Literacy Micro-Credential during the Spring 2026 term must complete and earn mastery in all three parts by the end of that term, 5/26/2026.

Learners who do not achieve mastery in all three parts by the end of Spring 2026 may be required to restart the course from the beginning if they choose to re-enroll in Fall 2026 or later.

Created in partnership with the Florida Department of Education and the Division of Early Learning, the UF Lastinger Center for Learning’s Emergent Literacy Micro-Credentials are available at no cost to Florida childcare personnel in an effort to create accessible and on-demand reading professional development. They give childcare personnel an opportunity to work at their own pace while implementing new instructional strategies in real-time and receiving individualized feedback and one-on-one support from an assessor.

A $1,000 stipend is available for eligible early child care personnel and eligible early learning staff upon completion of the Emergent Micro-Credential. Including prekindergarten instructors and directors of facilities and providers holding a VPK and/or SR contract and child care personnel who work at DCF licensed, registered, or exempt from licensure providers. For more information please visit our website.

Please note: As of July 2024, learners are only eligible to complete one Literacy Micro-Credential—Emergent, Elementary, or Secondary—and receive one stipend. Learners who have previously completed and received a stipend for any of these Literacy Micro-Credentials will not be eligible to complete another or receive an additional stipend. For more information, please visit our website.

  • For the next question, you will need to select your workplace county.

Once you select your workplace county in the first box, all of the eligible workplace names will then appear in the second box. Please search and select your workplace from that list.

NOTE: You may type into the empty field to search for your workplace.

If you do not see your workplace listed, then select MY WORKPLACE IS NOT LISTED as your workplace county. You will then be prompted to select your workplace county and then write in your workplace name.

  • It appears you may not meet the eligibility requirement needed to enroll in the Emergent Literacy Micro-Credential. In order to enroll in the Emergent Literacy Micro-Credential, you must be Birth-PreK (public or private) childcare personnel.
