  • The New Worlds Reading Teacher Professional Learning, created in partnership with the Florida Department of Education and the UF Lastinger Center for Learning is a FREE professional learning opportunity for K-5 classroom teachers in Florida’s public and public charter schools and VPK lead teachers and aides who work at a VPK contracted provider.

     

    WHAT?

    • Training and resources that connect the New Worlds Reading Initiative home book delivery program to classroom-based school literacy instruction
    • 1-day, in-person institute (breakfast, lunch, and snacks provided)
      • 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. EST

     

    WHO IS ELIGIBLE?

    • K-5 classroom teachers in Florida's public schools, including public charter schools
    • VPK lead teachers and aides who work at a VPK contracted provider

     

    WHERE?

    • Sessions are scheduled at three locations across the state and organized into VPK - K, 1 - 2, and 3 - 5 grade bands
    • Participants may attend any location, regardless of district of employment
    • Participants select one date at one location

     

    WHY?

    • Connect New Worlds Reading book delivery to classroom instruction
    • Gain knowledge on the Science of Reading
    • Learn how to use children's literature to teach Florida's grade-level standards
    • Improve student literacy outcomes
    • Receive a $300 stipend upon completion
